January

Happy New Year!

We started 2025 with a belated Christmas celebration with Steve and Vallerie =)

Ryan and I got to take Bridgette to a UMD women's game with tickets through VetTix - hooray!

Being the major basketball fan that she is, Bridgette wanted to buy her own ticket to watch
the UCLA vs. UMD game, which meant I got to go with her!

Happy Birthday to Rooke!!  It's truly hard to believe that our son is 17 - wow!

Despite his growing independence, I can always get him to come home with the promise of a beloved meal: Meat pie and mashed potatoes to celebrate this big guy for the 12th year in a row =)

Besides turning 17, Rooke was busy with school work and basketball.  His school team had a great season.

We got a little snow!  Enough for some sledding fun with friends, but not enough snow around here that we each have our own gear, so we end up wearing each other's warm clothes.  Gretchen's pick this time was her dad's winter coat - ha!

Bridgette opted to try the boogie board as a sled

This girl is the selfie queen!  Here she is before and after braces:

Ryan and I were blessed to take a very special trip this month: Mom surprised Dad for his 70th birthday with a planned trip for all the adults in the family to meet in Denver for the weekend.  A surprise for Dad, but a true gift for ALL of us!  We flew in early and were promptly whisked away to a delicious breakfast.

LOVE my sister!

So fun to hang out with my siblings - we laughed a lot!

A spontaneous stop on one of our group walks through the neighborhood: a restaurant that centered its entire menu around Bacon!

Happy Birthday to Dad!!

Hooray for a wonderfully fun and memorable weekend together!  Thank you, Mom and Dad!

Meanwhile, back at home, Steve and Vallerie made sure the kids were well cared for =)

December

 Beautiful sisters!

Sometimes even the teenage boy needs to cuddle

I took my piano students to share their Christmas music with the residents of the nursing home where Gramma lived.  Bridgette joined the program playing a Christmas carol on her violin.

Bridgette is excited for basketball season to start!  She got a one-on-one training session through the AAU team Rooke played for last year and soaked up all the coaching.

Gretchen and her bestie passing out programs before their school Christmas concert

Vallerie and the girls set up a table of their crafts and artwork at the Cheverly Christmas market.  It's become a fun tradition!

Candy Cane Cookies!

Double-date with dear friends to celebrate both of our anniversaries, which are weeks apart

Let's Go Panthers!  Rooke's team has had a great season

She continues to enjoy piano lessons via Zoom with Kaye K!

Grateful for Big Brother taking Bridgette to her violin lesson on a day when family schedules were extra crazy

This beauty turned 15!!!

Family lunch after church to celebrate Gretchen, then a trip to Claire's to get her gift: a second ear-piercing

One of the many reasons I love the Christmas season =)

My final homeschooling student and I took a mid-day field trip to the Botanical Gardens to see the Christmas train display

Forced Family Fun: tickets to a G-League game to see the local team play.  Thank you, VetTix!

One of the hot games during the Christmas break was Settlers

Our favorite: Christmas Eve pajamas from Grammy Deb!

Stockings on Christmas morning!

Santa Payne =)

Showing off some of his new stuff

Merry Christmas from the Paynes!
