Rooke is three weeks old today! It's hard to believe that we've had our son for three whole weeks. Today I went to the doctor and had to fill out the basic forms. I came to the question, "Do you have any children?" and it hit me - YES! I DO! I was so proud to write down "Rooke Isaac Payne - 3 weeks old".

"Guess what I'm doing?!" Aren't you glad people don't take pictures of you when you are trying to get your business done? Poor kid.

Rooke's Great Uncle Steve and Aunt Vallerie sent him this cute box of goodies!

This cute little outfit and many others came in the mail this week from Rooke's Grandma Payne. "Thank you for the cute clothes, Grandma. They make me smile!"

I tried to post this video with the pictures last night, but ran out of patience. So here it is on my second attempt. Rooke's first real bath . . . we find it pretty entertaining!

A Real Bath

We were finally able to give Rooke a real bath . . . and he LOVED it! Although, I have to admit that we seemed to have as much fun as he did, laughing at his funny expressions. I'm so glad to have a son who likes the water! He wasn't so much excited by the bath as he was calmed and relaxed.

Auntie Aubyn loves tie-dye!

Rooke's Auntie Aubyn came down from Canada for a day. He loved playing with her and was excited to show off his tie-dyed onsie from our friends in Eugene!

Two Weeks Old

Rooke Isaac is two weeks old already! We went for a walk around the nearby lake to celebrate and to enjoy the incredible sunny weather we are having.

Fun with Kaye-K & Big Daddy

It's been so much fun having my parents around this past month.
The help at home has been wonderful.

My dad got Rooke this hat for Christmas . . . they were watching the Ducks basketball game together. Big Daddy is already making sure his grandson knows which teams are ok to root for! There were red and white "boomer sooner" and green and yellow balloons hanging on the wall next to Rooke's bassinet when we got home from the hospital.

Day Trip

Monday we headed off on a ferry to one of the surrounding islands for a day trip with my parents. The weather was incredible! Clear, sunny days in the winter aren't too common up here, so we were very thankful for the blue sky and clear view of the mountains.

We stepped out on the ferry deck long enough to get a picture, but you can see that Rooke wasn't too excited about the wind on his face.

Ok, I admit it . . . I can't skip rocks. My dad was patient enough to
work with his pathetic 26-year-old daughter and her awful attempts to make the rocks skip. I have a son now . . . I should be able to do these things!

Napping

We thought since most of the pictures we have posted were of Rooke alert and awake, we'd prove that he really is a normal newborn and likes to sleep a lot . . .
especially when we are ready to take a nap with him!

Bath Time

Ryan finished his first week back at law school on Friday. What better way to get the semester going again than to give your cuddly son a bath?!

Not really a bath time picture, but we thought it was cute enough to add to the post. We got this great hat from our little friend Mattox.
We call it the "Russia hat"!

Five days old

He's a genius at five days old!
He was reading this book of opposites to me this morning.

We went to the pediatrician on Monday for Rooke's first check-up. They needed him naked to weigh him, so we carefully took off his diaper, having learned quickly that little boys bodily functions perform at unexpected times! He did good, got weighed and then as I started to put his diaper back on (while laying him in my lap, instead of on the table - dumb), he did this . . .
